Vanessa is 17 years old, a junior at Options for Youth Public Charter School, and an active member at the Harriet H. Samuelsson Teen Center. Growing up homeschooled, she has flourished by being a member of the Boys & Girls Club, where she has gained tremendous confidence and independence. She credits the Club and her staff for helping her discover her inner leader, voice, and love for the community.

She is excited to be the 2025 BGCOP Youth of the Year to empower voices and drive positive change in our communities. Through her voice, art, and actions, she hopes to help drive a future where everyone can stand together, regardless of race, gender, or sexuality.
