Rookie League
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme will be conducting a Rookie League Baseball Training Camp. Rookie League is a clinic-based program to get boys and girls ready for the upcoming baseball season. The program is designed for the beginning player to develop and improve their skills in fielding, batting, throwing, base running, sportsmanship and leadership. The training starts Feb. 16 and ends March 18. The days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The age groups are 5 to 7 years-old. The fee is $20, plus $15 for non-members. The training will take place at the MVS Youth Center, 1900 West Fifth St. Every child will need a glove, sweats or baseball pants and a water bottle. Please note that 5 year-olds can participate in this program, but not other Boys and Girls Club programs until they are 6 years old. If your child is 5 years old and you are planning on registering online, do not register to become a club member or you will have to pay an additional $15.

Boys & Girls Club Member Awarded Dwight Brydie Scholarship

VC Star – Rio School District gets $6.4 million in federal grants
Federal grants were awarded to both the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, which runs after-school programs on Rio campuses, and the district. The money will help increase access to the Mixteco population and parental involvement in after-school activities.
